El-P

Rapper El-P killed it at the Haunt in a raucous gig that showed how passionate hip hop and the right sort of enthusiastic crowd can wipe the floor with the omnipresent banality of indie band shows. Leaning mostly towards latest album ‘Cancer 4 Cure’ was brave but worthwhile, the old school hip hop hooks combined well with more modern bassy beats performed brilliantly with live guitarists and keyboardists. It was fun too, visibly drunk El-P chatted a lot to the crowd and gave it his all, resulting in an energetic atmosphere with real camaraderie. Refreshing, different and superb.
