Baroque Concert – Richard Durrant (guitar) & Howard Beach (harpsichord)

Introduced by a gratuitous smoke-machine, Richard Durrant (relaxed, informal and bare-foot) led us into his delicate and exciting world of J.S. Bach. Such brilliant virtuoso playing is just so easy to enjoy. While re-tuning the guitar between pieces, Richard wooed his entranced audience with fascinating chat about Bach, guitars and whatever. He plays so convincingly we can easily agree that the magnificent D minor Chaconne really is one of the greatest achievements of humanity.

Each half climaxed in a delightfully exuberant Vivaldi concerto, with an exhilarating harpsichord to lighten the atmosphere – truly music-making at its very best. I loved it!
