BHAWFC’s Stenning talks targets with Adam Tighe

Albion Women’s hat-trick hero Kim Stenning is targeting a season on top of the scoring charts and a top-of-the-table finish for the team.

The striker has started the season in blistering form, scoring five goals in three games, and following her three-goal haul against Colchester United yesterday Kim has set herself the target of bettering her impressive tally from the 2011/12 campaign.

“Last season I scored 23 goals so I really want to beat that,” says Kim. “I have almost reached a quarter of my target for this season. The win is, and always will be, the most important thing though. It was massive to bounce back from the defeat at West Ham so quickly because we are a side hunting for promotion, so we have got to aim to win every game.

“First half we were all over Colchester and we did really well but the last 20 minutes were a bit iffy. We managed to hold on to the win. We are targeting winning this league and I would be disappointed to finish anywhere other than first because we are capable of finishing top.” The former Southampton player has entered her fifth season with the Seagulls and is hoping that the side have learnt lessons for future away trips.

“At West Ham we seemed to be tired from the journey and everything was rushed, so in future we need to prepare better when we are getting ready for away games. We seem to struggle away from home whereas at home we rarely get beaten. At West Ham we were amazing in the second half but we never got going during the first 45. We now have big league and cup games against Lewes in consecutive weeks and we know it will be a big test but we are looking to win both games.”
