Brighton arsonist destroys cars, caravan and motorbike
An arsonist or arsonists completely destroyed two cars, a motorbike and a caravan in a spate of fires in Brighton at the weekend.
Several other cars and nearby homes were damaged in six separate fires between 2am and 4am on Saturday (15 September) in Whitehawk.
PC William Hewson, from Brighton and Hove Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “This was a mindless act of criminal damage and has had a real impact on the local community.
“Fortunately no one was injured but the sporadic fires caused a huge amount of work for local emergency services on a busy weekend night.
“Please get in touch if you have any information that could help us with our inquiries.
“We are very keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV that captured any suspicious activity in the area on the night of the fires.”
Sussex Police said that officers wanted to trace a man seen at about 1.40am in Haybourne Road adjourning Limney Road. He was described as white and was wearing a light-coloured hooded top.
Anyone with information was urged to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
