Dexy’s

Kevin Rowland lived in Brighton for many years; a good many of those in the ‘wilderness’ as he fought addictions and psychological issues of many a hue… The fact that he has finally, albeit still with some trepidation, come out of the other side is testament to his fortitude, and his innate ability as a singer, songwriter and performer. For this was a homecoming, a validation of his very long quest for redemption and, to a degree, peace of mind. Eschewing the easy route to cash rewards, Rowland has come out all guns firing, with a superb new album and a stage show that almost defied belief, so well thought out and choreographed; the theatre of it equalled the brilliant musicianship and songs, topped off by his often under-appreciated voice. This two hour show had them dancing in the aisles and pining for more more; Rowland was discernibly touched and enjoying the occasion.
