Brighton parking zone may take in more streets

People living in two areas of Brighton are being asked whether they want to be included in an extended residents parking scheme.

Brighton and Hove City Council has begun a consultation over plans to bring in residents parking in the London Road Station North and Round Hill areas.

The council said that the consultation was in response to concerns raised by residents about parking, particularly since the Area J scheme was extended last year in the neighbouring Viaduct Rise roads.

The consultation period will run for five weeks from today (Monday 1 October) until Friday 9 November.

Information packs and questionnaires about current parking options will be sent to all residents in the affected areas.

An exhibition to show the proposals will be held at Stanford Avenue Methodist Church. It will take place on Thursday 25 October between 1.30pm and 5.30pm and on Friday 26 October between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

Residents will be able to look at the preliminary designs in detail and put their questions to council officers.

There will also be an unstaffed exhibition at Hove Town Hall, in the ground floor foyer, between 9am and 5pm from today until Wednesday 31 October.

The council said that the views and suggestions received during the consultation period would contribute to discussions by councillors before any decision was made.

The extended scheme is due to be discussed at the council’s Transport Committee meeting on Tuesday 15 January.
