The Haunting
1st October but we got all the thrills of Hallowe’en! This well-crafted play in the manner of Charles Dickens has all the right attributes: fog, wind and thunderstorms; sudden shocks, chilling effects and a twisting plot. David Robb and James Roache (making a striking stage debut) play it straight and deliver every line with chilling conviction. They hold the spell even over the audience’s nervous giggling and gasps. This is Grand-Guingol in style. Does the theatre have smelling-salts enough for any faint-hearted young folk? We certainly jumped out of our seats. Will you? There’s only one way to find out.
