Fred MacAulay – Legally Bald

Fred MacAulay’s hit show, Legally Bald, is packed to bursting with juicy comedic gems centered around Mr MacAulay himself. As he concedes, his comedy’s not edgy, but it is brilliant, and sometimes sureally, observed. Employing the well-worn comedy tropes of married life, the differences between the sexes, ageing, etc, he succeeds in mining comedy gold from subject matter which might appear to have had all the nutrition sucked out of it. Indeed in lesser hands such material could easily fail to spark. Only rarely did the show seem in danger of losing energy. On a laugh per minute basis Legally Bald was something of a triumph.
