James Acaster – Prompt
It was a Monday evening crowd that filled the Studio bar, eager for entertainment from this Edinburgh award-nominated show but less than vocal after the start of the working week. Acaster’s laid back style, engaging with the small things in life with a happy bemusement, from the mysteries of a cheese grater to his investigations into bread and dislike of conventional ‘lads’ nights out’, belies a gentle and tightly written show. The audience was full of grinning smiles and guffaws, an enjoyment that was no less genuine for being muted. A delightful hour.
