Ray Davies
Cultural icon Davies knows how to work an audience. His laconic, friendly “cheeky chappy” demeanour gave the Brighton Dome an appropriate air of music hall, encouraging extensive audience participation with Kinks’ classics like ‘Waterloo Sunset’ and ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’. Whilst physically looking spritely and well-preserved, tragically his voice has faired less well over the years, but it’s hard to knock such a consummate performer, even when his vocal range is somewhat diminished. With almost every classic, from ‘Victoria’ to ‘Lola’, by way of ‘You Really Got Me’, it would be hard to see how anyone would come away dissatisfied.
