The Rubberbandits

It is to the Rubberbandits’ credit that this could have been enjoyed as, as they put it, ‘hardcore gangster rap’ without considering the comedy. But with hits such as ‘Horse Outside’ and the wonderful ‘Up The RA’ (a highlight being the list of incongruous celebrities proudly declared to be in the IRA), the be-plastic bagged Mr Chrome and Blindboy Boat Club proved they are as talented comics as accomplished tunesmiths. There are misfires; ‘Bag Of Glue’ is just unpleasant and the Irish-language version of ‘Roisin’ was self-indulgent. However this was a standout gig and the ‘bandits are ones to watch for the future.
