Film: Skyfall (12A)
Director: Sam Mendes
So… we know that Adele has down the latest Bond theme, and that Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) is playing someone of dubious ethics, that Ben Whishaw (Perfume, The Hour) is the brand new younger and improved Q, but what do we actually know about the plot of the most anticipated spy film since… well, ever? Not a lot.
Our Mr James Bond is back, but this time he’s not the one in the most trouble: M (Judi Dench) is. It would seem that she was not born behind a desk shouting at Bond to stop acting like a schoolboy, and her past has come back to get her. Bond is summarily roped in to bail her out, with his loyalty tested to the max – is there any other way to test it? Will he come through for her? Is he already too damaged to be able to deliver the goods? Draw your own conclusions.
With the talented Sam Mendes at the helm, and an excellent supporting cast including Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Albert Finney and Rory Kinnear.
Released Friday 26 October
Showing at Odeon and Cineworld
