Francois & The Atlas Mountains
The long-time amis du Brighton were remarkably fresh after a fifteen hour drive and did a great job of blowing the Monday blues away with a percussion-heavy, synth-rich trippy opener. ‘Edge Of Town’ was cheesy reggae that became dreamlike bliss with the band’s celestial backing vocals, while the bulk of the set was comprised of clubby dancers featuring synchronised dance moves. Singing in French and English, frontman Francois Marry had a ball, springing balletically around the stage and the short show ended triumphantly with ‘Sorrento’, which started like early-Visage before exploding into hard house euphoria. A great start to the week.
