Celeb City: Celebrities in the Fishlove Project

Rupert Everett, June Brown, Lisa Marie Presley, & naked celebrities in the Fishlove Project

Oscar winner
Hollywood superstar Rupert Everett visited Theatre Royal Brighton recently in advance of his performance in The Judas Kiss, which visits the Theatre from Monday 5 – Saturday 10 November. Rupert’s visit coincided with the news that the play, which has won him great critical acclaim, will transfer to the West End early next year. In The Judas Kiss Everett plays the role of the dandiest dandy of all: Oscar Wilde, a personality also played by the likes of Stephen Fry in 1997’s ‘Wilde’. It’s set to be a roaring success when it hits the stage in November – get your tickets at www.atgtickets.com/venues/theatre-royal-brighton

Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus have announced the appointment of EastEnder’s actress and national treasure June Brown (the one and only Dot Branning) as their first Patron. MOSHIMO
The newly titled Moshimo restaurant Brighton has been hitting the headlines with their fabulous Fishlove project recently. In collaboration with the actress Greta Scacchi, Moshimo have been cajoling the rich and famous to strip off in aid of protecting our oceans from overfishing. Launched in June 2009, the Fishlove Photographic Project is a series of striking photographs which feature naked celebrities holding dead fish, which were printed in The Sun, The Mirror, The Telegraph and The Mail last week. The Fishlove images were taken by the world-famous fashion photographer Rankin and feature the likes of Jerry Hall, Lizzy Jagger, Sir Ben Kingsley and Mark Foster among many others, cradling everything from fish to crustaceans.

The photographs came about following a conversation between Nicholas Röhl, co-owner of Brighton Japanese restaurant Moshimo, and Charles Clover, who was about to launch his important film on the fishing crisis, End Of The Line.

“Charles Clover had heard about Moshimo’s award-winning work in fish sustainability and had come in to talk about how we might help,” recalls Nicholas Röhl. The photographs are now being used by OCEAN2012, with the active support of End of the Line’s legacy project, the charity Blue Marine Foundation. OCEAN2012 is a campaign of over 160 organisations throughout the
EU dedicated to stopping overfishing, ending destructive fishing practices and delivering fair and equitable use of healthy fish stocks. For further information, visit www.fishlove.org or contact Nicholas Röhl at nicky@moshibrighton.co.uk

Lisa Marie PreSLEy
Okay, so Lisa Marie Presley doesn’t work at a chip van in Sussex (as previously rumoured) but she does live here. In a recent interview with The Telegraph Magazine Presley explained: “People here have a conscience, they know right from wrong. When I first moved in a paparazzo was outside my house, and this farmer rammed his truck into the guy and said ‘Get out of here’. The people in my village have my back…”
That’s the Sussex way!
