Conor Maynard

If the British music industry was looking out for a homegrown Bieber clone, they landed something rather more sophisticated in Brighton’s Conor Maynard. Opening his first tour since debut album ‘Contrast’ shot to number one, Maynard pumped out a floor-rattling mix of upbeat R&B, the smitten crowd screaming the roof down throughout. A welcome acoustic interlude harked back to his early YouTube performances, the version of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ showing his voice can genuinely cut it live. Maynard seemed occasionally overwhelmed at where he’s found himself, but this classy, energetic gig proved why he’s earned his place at the top.
