Comedy: Former Republic of Laugh-so-Hardia
A brand new monthly comedy night launches at the Brighton Comedy Fringe
Last month we saw the sad demise after three years of IOU Comedy, going out in a blaze of glory with a fantastic line-up. This month we see the men behind IOU Comedy – Alex Petrovic and Sean McLoughlan – reappear with a brand new night, launched in the midst of the Brighton Comedy Fringe, and bringing a regular monthly evening of comedy, comprised of a fantastic, established headline act supported by four up and coming comics from the Brighton and London circuits handpicked by Mr Petrovic.
In this month’s inaugural show that top notch comedy slot is taken up by Ed Gamble (as seen on BBC3’s Russell Howard’s Good News), with the rising talent represented by Stuart Hossack, Chris Quaile, Jonny Lennard and Luke Capasso, all hosted by the charming
Sean McLoughlan.
It marks the arrival of a new kind of comedy night to the compact yet award-winning comedy venue Upstairs At Three And Ten, whose Rabbit In The Headlights night is arguably the longest running new act night in Brighton. Playing originator and host to the Brighton Comedy Fringe, the venue has a reputation for attracting and supporting innovative and emerging comedy, to such an extent that full blown comedy stars often return here to try out new material and preview fresh shows, such is the fondness for the place and staff.
Former Republic Of Laugh-So-Hardia makes a welcome addition to the stable of respected comedy regulars at Upstairs At Three And Ten, and with this winning combo of venue and booking talent it’s well worth keeping a beady eye out for comedy afficionados.
