Alive Fitness & Natural Health, independent Brighton based gym, opened its doors for a spooky charity event on Sunday 28 October. The “Spooktacular event” raised £530 for two local charities: the Martlets Hospice and LostCatsBrighton. Alive’s sales manager Joseph Tanner and personal trainer Jenny Dunn organised the four-day event and involved all the staff at the gym. The event kicked off with a gruelling Spookathon, six work-out classes back to back, after which guests were able to enjoy a well deserved cake from the charity sale and enter a less demanding raffle. The whole staff dressed in fancy dress making sure people got into the spooky atmosphere and the crèche offered face painting for the little ones.

New Digital Mammography Suite opened by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
To coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital played host to Dame Kiri Te Kanawa on Wednesday 24 October when she opened their new Digital Mammography Suite.

Dame Kiri cut the pink ribbon before enjoying a pink champagne reception in the hospital’s impressive new reception area. She was entertained by the Actually Gay Men’s Chorus and Actually Gay Women’s Chorus and helped draw the raffle, which alone raised over £300 for Breast Cancer Care.

Rockinghorse
Over the past five years, Rockinghorse, the official fundraising arm of the Alex, has raised over £250,000 for projects at the children’s hospital. At a reception held at the Royal Alex Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Dr Oli Rahman, Lead Consultant for Paediatric Medicine, said: “With the support of Rockinghorse, we can truly give the children the service they deserve.”
There was a cheque for £5,000 presented by Chris Jackson (NCP) to the Rockinghorse Charity.

Sinatra, dinner and dance make a comeback
Terraces launched their ‘themed’ nights on 27 October with entertainment, dinner, wine and dancing. Customers danced to the old classics from Jack Sinatra and enjoyed the three courses which were beautifully presented by the very attentive staff.

You can pre-book their dinner dancing package and enjoy three courses plus half a bottle of wine, followed by a live DJ playing your favourite 60s, 70s and 80s classics, for only £27.95 per person.
