Two rescued from fire in Brighton

Two people were rescued after a fire broke out in a block of flats in Brighton in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 7 November).

Two crews from Preston Circus and the aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene to tackle the fire at Fred Emery Court in Sillwood Street, Brighton, just after 2am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the building and brought two people to safety.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “One casualty was given oxygen therapy.”

Fred Emery Court is a block of 32 self-contained flats run by Brighton YMCA.
