The Canterbury Tales – Tacit Theatre

Six jolly players, assorted instruments, good clear voices and rather a lot of smoke play around a sturdy set of golden stories, bawdy and lewd. Chaucer was never better served. The cast serenaded the audience as they entered, teased them with hints of ‘participation’ and launched into – Middle-English verse, lightened with anachronistic but enthusiastic folk-songs. The Chaucerian language took us back 600+ years but there was never any danger of anyone missing their meaning. Everyone, not just the excited school parties, were rocking with laughter. It’s on until Saturday. If you don’t yet know Chaucer see this and love him!
