Blockheads – Thirty-fifth anniversary tour
There are some acts in this world you would rather not have to follow, and it takes a brave man to try to fill Ian Dury’s rather idiosycratic boots. Replacement raconteur Derek the Draw makes a pretty good fist of it in this, a tour celebrating the thirty fifth anniversary of the seminal album ‘New Boots And Panties’. The band, led by stalwarts Chas Jankel and one of the great bass players Norman Watt-Roy, show just how greasily funky a stage full of old men can be, whipping up a storm while the audience dance, swing, and re-live their lost youth.
