Two men go on trial over death of Brighton man
Two men are due to go on trial for murder today over the death of a 40-year-old bricklayer from Brighton.
Joel Elliott, 22, of North Road, Brighton, and Adam White, also 22, of Bedford Place, Liverpool, are due to appear for trial at Lewes Crown Court this morning (Monday 12 November).
Jeffrey Burrows and his late wife Brione
The pair, who are currently being held in custody, are accused of murdering Jeffrey Burrows at his flat in Norfolk Square, Brighton, on Sunday 29 April.
Post-mortem tests indicated that Mr Burrows – known to his friends as Jeff, Humphrey and Big Humph – died from stab wounds. Paramedics spent more than an hour trying to save his life.
Mr Burrows came from Dungannon in Northern Ireland and had lived in Brighton for 17 years. He was widowed at the start of the year when his wife Brione died of cancer.
