City Apprenticeships launched on the 26 October 2012 as part of City College’s initiative to help the community to achieve their potential. City Apprenticeships provides a recruitment service offering part and full-time positions in Brighton and Hove. Also for apprentices looking for opportunities,the staff assists individuals in finding work, give support and guidance throughout the application process.

Chestnut Tree House launches 10th anniversary business awards
Around 100 supporters of a different sort gathered at Crawley Town Football Club on Thursday 18 October when Sussex children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, launched its inaugural business awards. The charity wants to reward and recognise not only the many Sussex businesses which have supported them but also the sterling efforts of employees of those companies. Nominations will be judged by an expert panel including Hugh Lowson, Chief Executive of Chestnut Tree House and Neil Laughton, Sussex-based adventurer, entrepreneur and CEO of the Business Leadership Academy and can be made by calling the fundraising team on 01903 871821.

British Engineerium open day
The British Engineerium held an open day on Sunday 28 October where visitors gathered to see the renovations coming along. The old Goldstone water pumping station, rescued by Mike Holland from permanent closure in 2006, holds some lovely pieces of history and the plans are to turn the building into one the city’s main attractions. The Engineerium will now be open the last Sunday of every month. www.britishengineerium.org
Devil’s Music
The launch of Mr Chill meets Punkdaddy: Devil’s Music took place on Friday 26 October at The Open House in Brighton. Mr Chill aka Gary Turner (ex The Dodgems and The Piranhas) and Punkdaddy aka Phil Byford (The Lillets and Punk Brighton website).
Devil’s Music brings together the talents of the two musicians, rock and roll rhythms, blues and punk sound gives a sexy backdrop to the words of Gary Turner.
