Bellowhead
With their Les Mis meets Jack Sparrow stage set a perfect fit for panto season, the 11-piece band of merry minstrels were in full party mood. The joyfully raucous mish-mash of instruments created any number of backings; from Sally Army to wonky fairground via mini-rock opera and drunken shanties, for Jon Boden’s powerful voice. The crazy antics seemed too rehearsed but big hitters like ‘Whiskey Is The Life Of Man’ and set closer ‘London Town’ were all guns blazing celebrations that had the sell-out crowd singing and the floor bouncing. Great support from Swiss swamp rockers Mama Rosin.
