The Importance Of Being Earnest

This is one of those plays done to death and more often than not badly. Thankfully this production was most definitely not in that category. The superb cast breathed new life and energy into the socially sharp/acerbic Oscar Wilde text, as relevant today as it was in Victorian Britain. Even some of the most iconic lines in English Literature (the audience collectively holding their breath in anticipation) were presented in a new/fresh way. Wilde’s history with the town and having a principal character named after it makes the play quintessential to Worthing, indeed some of the lines had added resonance because of this. Bravo!!
