Snap Shots: Mr Chill meets Punkdaddy

“We first met in 1972 and we both featured on Brighton’s first independent label Attrix Records. We got together again in 2010 and wrote a song about Gary’s wife Angie who was dying of cancer. After her death we continued to work together, wrote lots of songs and decided to put the album together.”

Mr Chill meets Punkdaddy ‘Devil’s Music’, is a collaboration by two Brighton musicians, Gary Turner & Phil Byford, of exquisitely executed rock and roll rhythms, blissful blues and punk.

Mr Chill, ( Gary Turner) former bassist and lead singer of The Dodgems reaching no 2 in the indie charts in 1979 and a favourite with the late John Peel. Gary also played bass with The Piranhas.

Punkdaddy (Phil Byford), has been in many Brighton bands including Flesh, The Fundamentalists and The Lillettes but he is best known as the creator of the Punk Brighton website.
Their new album, Devil’s Music, is for sale in Bunker Bunker, Trafalgar St and Borderline, Gardner St. For more info: www.mrchillmeetspunkdaddy.co.uk
