Madness

The Camden seven-piece bring down the curtain on their extraordinary ‘annus miraculus’ with tonight’s sell out Christmas celebration at the Brighton Centre. Following their triumphant ‘Our House’ rendition – ‘One’s house, in the middle of One’s street’ – on top of the Palace at the Diamond Jubilee back in the summer and a quick blast around the track at the Olympic closing ceromony, the band have cemented their status as Nutty National Treasures. More than mere nostalgia though, the group appear still to perform at the cutting edge of pop. There are some misfires, but who cares, not this audience. Classic pop song after classic pop song leaves you feeling totally invigorated. The best-known, best-loved British boy band of all time. Properly brilliant.
