Sussex Sports Awards 2012

Active Sussex celebrated the achievements of the county’s sports men and women and their own ten-year anniversary in style at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.

Paralympic Bronze medalist Ben Quilter received the award for Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, topping off a fantastic year for the Double World and European Judo Champion. Despite his personal success, he highlighted the team’s performance: “The whole team did really well and hopefully British Judo will move on to bigger and better things in the future”.

It was understandable that the award for Sports Personality of the Year went to Olympic Silver medalist Tina Cook. Tina won her medal in the Team Eventing at London 2012 and she told Latest Sport it was an incredible year: “to come away with the silver was amazing and the whole experience was unbelievable.”
