City of… Art: Christmas Artists Open Houses

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Christmas Artists Open Houses festival. Over the first three weekends in December artists across Brighton and Hove open up their houses to display paintings, textiles, prints, ceramics, jewellery and sculpture.

It’s a great chance to pick up decorations, cards, wrapping paper and original presents or just eat mince pies and drink mulled wine while admiring the art work.

Jenni Davidson went to meet two artists as they were getting ready for this years festival. Shyama Ruffell of Art Across the Line and Sue Johnston of The Thistle House show off some of the art that will be for sale in their homes and explain why they like having open houses.
