Police ask for help tracing men from protest targeting Hove MP
Two men who were at a protest which targeted Hove MP Mike Weatherley are being hunted by Sussex Police.
Officers have asked for help tracking down the men who were pictured at the Sussex University campus in Falmer on Wednesday 14 November.
Sussex Police said that officers were called to the Silverstone Building in Arts Road to deal with a disturbance.
Mr Weatherley, a Conservative MP, was sheltering inside the building and a large group of people were outside.
He had been invited to speak to students about his campaign to change the law on squatting.
Sussex Police said: “Officers took Mr Weatherley to safety in a police van.
“One of his team reported suffering a slight injury from a stone which had been thrown.”
Detective Constable Sophie Tullett, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and are appealing for these men to contact police to help us with our inquiries.
“”We would also like to hear from anyone who recognises them.”
Three weeks ago, on Friday 23 November, a 24-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of affray in relation to the incident.
He has been released on bail until Friday 18 January while officers carry out further inquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
