Alan Davies – Life Is Pain
Alan Davies has an ease on stage, a rapport with the audience and a deft touch at painting comic pictures drawn from his entire biography that eases immediately any anxiety that may have existed over the long gap between his last stand up tour and this one. Engaging, mischievous and a trifle grumpy, Davies kept eye-contact with his audience, maintaining an intimacy to the show and peppering his set with banter and audience participation, giving the impression that he was really enjoying the night enormously. Davies has a gift for creating a comic world in which no matter how gross or even sad the real world events are he draws out the humour with no ill will. Delightful to see a comic pro loving his work.
