Thief steals handbag from woman hurt in Brighton crash
A thief stole the handbag of woman who was lying injured in the street after a crash on Brighton seafront.
Sussex Police appealed for witnesses after the theft at the junction of King’s Road and West Street in Brighton.
The thief struck just before 3am last Saturday (22 December) when a taxi heading towards Hove hit the 30-year-old woman.
As passers by gathered round to help the woman and she was being taken to an ambulance, someone stole her handbag which had been on the ground.
The woman was treated for cuts and bruises at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Three men in the taxi were slightly hurt.
PC Dan Patterson said: “This was a really low theft and we are hoping that other people who were present will be able to give us some information about who took the bag.”
Anyone who can help is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
