Two men charged with attacking council worker in Hove

Two men have been charged with attacking an environmental health officer in Hove on New Year’s Eve.

He had been called to a house in Osmond Road, near the Seven Dials, shortly after 1.30am on Monday (31 December).

Sussex Police said that he suffered injuries to his face and one of his arms and that a motorbike was also damaged during the incident.

The victim, who works for Brighton and Hove City Council, called the police who arrested two men.

George Hayward, 18, unemployed, from Woodards View in Shoreham, has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH).

He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 17 January.

William Hayward, 22, a garden centre worker, from Church Street, Steyning, has also been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH).

He appeared before Brighton magistrates yesterday (Tuesday 1 January) and was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Tuesday 29 January.
