Celeb City: Kate Winslet & Sir Elton John

Kate Winslet, Sir Elton John, Gary Barlow & more

Must see…
After having the likes of Elton John spotted mingling within our local crowds during 2012 we felt it was only fair to give you the heads up on the must-see gigs of 2013 in this banging seaside city. This year looks set to be killer with a wide range of musicians and comedians set to descend on Brighton, at all the amazing venues we have dotted around the place.

The Brighton Centre kicks off the year with Gary Barlow in Concert (17th January) followed by fellow boy-bander Ronan Keating on the 20th. February sees Paloma Faith, Plan B, Little Mix and JBPR favourite Example take to the stage at the venue, ensuring a flutter of must-see shows will overtake the seaside venue to kick-start the year. For the more alternative among you head to Jake Bugg at the Brighton Dome – the newcomer has announced his biggest headline tour to-date – fresh from supporting the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – and he hits the Dome on the 18th.

Red Dwarf star, Robot Wars Master of Ceremonies and BBC Radio 6 funk master Craig Charles will be hitting Concorde 2 in March for a guest DJ set – proving Brighton’s dedication to a more eclectic scene remains strong. Audio is giving them a run for their money though, with rising-superstar DJ Cyril Hahn taking to their decks on 8th March.

Back at the Brighton Centre TV pin-ups and sexy singers Olly Murs (5–6th March) and The Script (20th March) will be storming the stage, as well as Australia’s much-loved musical veteran Olivia Newton-John (14th). Make sure you’re back at the Dome for April however, with Emeli ‘I-appeared- everywhere-possible-in-2012’ Sande bringing her sell-out soul to the beautiful venue, before Mick Hucknall’s first ever solo show comes on the 15th. So there you have a round up of the first four month’s highlights to keep you going – we’ll keep you updated throughout the year on all your entertainment needs!

Immaculate conception?
Brighton popstar Conor Maynard, who has reached the heady heights of stardom since NeYo discovered his
self-made videos on YouTube, is apparently helping to boost the global birth-rate. A fan recently divulged to the ‘Vegas Girl’ singer that she’d conceived whilst listening to his music – with the help of someone one else we can only imagine, unless Maynard’s powers are truly godly. Conor was more than happy to oblige commenting: “It’s nice to know I cause pregnancy.” His mother must be so proud.

Rock & Roll?
It’s rumoured that Kate Winslet has settled down in East Sussex with her new beau Ned RocknRoll – the ridiculously-named nephew of multi-millionaire Richard Branson. After being given away by Titanic co-star and long time friend Leonardo DiCaprio at her Christmas wedding, Kate ‘n’ Ned retreated to the countryside manor for their honeymoon. According to reports the star has already come to blows with the locals however, with residents of the quiet hamlet voting against her application for two-metre high gates to protect the property – not all that rock ‘n’ roll now, are we Ned?
