Brighton and Hove dusted with snow overnight

Brighton and Hove had its first snowfall of the winter overnight with the possibility of more to come later today (Monday 14 January).

With key roads having been gritted, traffic was moving and, on the railways, delays were reported by First Capital Connect but no snow-related cancellations.

The heavier snow appeared to be west of Brighton and Hove.

No schools looked like having to close.

The temperature was expected to warm up to about 4C to 5C during the day, having dropped to slightly below 0C.

But the wind will pick up, making it feel nearer to freezing as darkness draws in. And a cold rain is likely to mean icy roads and pavements overnight.

The rest of week is expected to be cold and dry in Brighton and Hove with warmer temperatures come the weekend.
