Celeb City: Brian Cox & Whoopi Goldberg

Adele album news, The Hobbit’s Martin Freeman, Chris Ellison, Brian Cox & Whoopi Goldberg

The Big Bang Theory
TV professor and JBPR crush of choice (well, for Emma at least) Brian Cox will be teaching students at Rydon Community College, West Sussex, as part of the UK’s Young Scientists and Engineers fair. Lucky students, who won the prize against thousands of other entrants, will have the scientist and one-time rocker explore space through a workshop on the Big Bang, extraterrestrials and black holes. Cox said he was “looking forward to taking Rydon Community college on a journey of discovery”. We’re well jel.

Chris has Great Expectations
Brighton resident and The Bill superstar Chris Ellison is taking to the West End stage next month to act in the latest dramatic adaption of Charles Dickens’ much loved novel Great Expectations. DC Burnside will tread the boards as the curious character of Magwitch at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Adele works on new album
Adele, who has been hiding away with her Brighton based boyfriend, has apparently been busy working on new material for her third album! Since giving birth last October it clearly hasn’t been all soft play and nappy changes for the Grammy-award winning singer, as she’s reportedly looking at bringing out new work before the end of 2013 – how’s that for a working mum! “Adele is making a start on another album after going off the radar since giving birth,” said a source. “Even though she’s been busy enjoying family life with Simon and the baby, she’s also been writing during her time off, so arrived at the studio ready to start working hard straight away,” the insider told Heat magazine. “The album could even be released later this year.” We might catch a long-awaited glimpse of singer next month if rumours come to pass that she’ll be performing at the Oscars in order to mark 50 years of Bond. So hopefully her threat of leaving the limelight for four to five years to concentrate on ‘love’ and ‘a vegetable patch’ has been long forgotten.

Brighton’s cake shop of choice for Hollywood star
Congratulations to Choccywoccydoodah who continue to be the go to place for celebrities after a bit of cake. Whoopi Goldberg is their latest high-profile client. The star ordered an amazing Statue of Liberty cake for a friend – asking for her order to be delivered stateside! Jackie Collins, Katie Melua and Julien MacDonald have all picked the Brighton born chocolate shop to make bespoke cakes for them – catch up with all the fun on their fly-on-the-wall TV series aired on the Good Food Channel.

A Hobbit’s tale
I popped up to London last week for meetings in Soho and caught our very own Frankie Cocozza enjoying a local boozer. Minutes earlier we’d bumped into The Hobbit star Martin Freeman – he was short and didn’t stop chatting!
