Filthy Sticky Standup – Tony Law
The bar has been set mighty high with this inaugural night of Filthy Sticky Standup. Opening with a beautiful commitment to his tightly written and very funny material was Joe Foster, followed by Claire Parker – once again pioneering our comedic transgender education whilst throwing in the odd quantum physics gag and working a lovely rapport with the audience. Next up was Romesh Ranganathan, proffering assured material about why he was late and proving once again the intrinsic strength of his well honed funny bones. Simon Evans closed the support section with a selection of new and topical material, even going so far in his captivating aloof persona to cover the recent problems of HMV, as well as humorous insights with his own ideas on parenting. Headlining the show was Tony Law in a mania of laughter and leftfield adventures, that skipped through topics and around a thin line of self-referential awareness of his mixed bag of material that his comedic skill and experience tailored well in an ad hoc fashion, conjuring ideas of influence from Eddie Izzard and Paul Foot.
A fantastic solid evening of comedy. Well done!
