Brighton man arrested over attack on two people

A 42-year-old man from Brighton was attacked in Lewes Road and left with a serious hip injury.

A 20-year-old woman suffered bruising to her face in the same incident.

The assault is believed to have taken place on the west side of Lewes Road near St Martin’s Place.

The victims were both assaulted by a man who approached them along with part of a group of people.

A 28-year-old man from Brighton was arrested yesterday (Thursday 24 January) on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and common assault.

He has been bailed until Saturday 23 March while officers make further inquiries about the assault and the circumstances surrounding it.

The attack happened at about 10.30pm on Wednesday 16 January.
