Poets vs MCs

War, what is it good for? A bloody good slam apparently. Poets vs MCs is one of the most eagerly awaited events on the Brighton calendar and it is not hard to see why. Leaving their usual abode of the Komedia and descending into the Concorde 2, the silver-tongued aficionados from Hammer & Tongue and Slip Jam: B brought some of the city’s most talented poets and MCs to conflict for the 10th anniversary of this annual war of words.

Struggling to pledge devout loyalty to either side, both teams won equal appreciation in the showcase round with a swerve towards the poets in the final battles. However, a dazzling freestyle cypher mid-show only confirmed that you were in the presence of greatness fighting from both trenches.
