Stage: Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo 2013

With their previous visit to the UK resulting in sell-out success, all male ballet troupe The Trocks return to Brighton Dome with more diva attitude

Back in 1974, a small company of ballet lovers attracted the attention of some of the biggest critics in New York. By combining a passionate knowledge of dance with a comic touch, the affectionately known ‘Trocks’ quickly began to gather fans outside of their off-Broadway stage and, after appearing in several famous publications, the all-male company Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo pirouetted their way into the international spotlight. It is fair to say that due to an incredible talent these men possess both in ballet and comedy, nearly four decades on they are still as much a phenomenon as they ever were.

The Trocks are not short of popularity, having appeared on various TV programmes over the years in different countries all over the world. Despite a long list of dance awards won and achievements gained, they remain humble in their success by continuing to appear in benefits for worthy causes including AIDS organisations, LGBT youth centres and poverty charities.

The Brighton Dome are overjoyed to welcome them to their stage where people can experience their technically gifted repertoire of ballet and modern dance. Laden with tutus and numerous over-sized ballet shoes, the lithe men of this company will amuse and enchant as they play all the parts including those normally associated with the women in ballet, from dainty princesses to elegant swans.

With a whole new programme of lavish moves and costumes, the Trocks will bring the pleasure of dance to the widest of audiences. A master class will be available with the legendary Trocks on Saturday 16 February for those wanting to try their feet at a little classical ballet with a farcical edge.

Concert Hall, Brighton Dome, Friday 15 February–Saturday 16 February, £12.50–£27.50, www.brightondome.org
