TEDx Brighton seeks ideas for this year’s theme

The organisers of TEDx Brighton are inviting people to help choose a theme, having confirmed the return of the international conference.

They are holding an “open round table event” today (Friday 15 February) for everyone interested in helping develop the initial ideas.

These are being encouraged through an online discussion using the Twitter tag #TEDxBrighton.

The third TEDx Brighton is due to take place on Friday 25 October at the Corn Exchange in Church Street, Brighton.

The organisers promised inspiring live speakers from a range of backgrounds, interests, disciplines and perspectives, combined with some classic TED talks.

TED stands for technology, entertainment and design and the first TED conference was held in California in 1984.

All the presentations are expected to promote TED’s ethos of “ideas worth spreading” and to last between 6 and 18 minutes.

TEDx Brighton, like all TEDx events, is locally organised and officially licensed. It is run as a not-for-profit event by a team of volunteers.

The producer and curator of TEDx Brighton, Natalie Lloyd, said: “We’ve had some fantastic feedback from last year and, having just had our TED licence approved, we’re keen to get the ball rolling.”

The event will be open to a live audience of 360 people – it was a sell-out last year – and can also be followed live and viewed later.

The theme last year was the generation gap.
