Light Bites: Chinese New Year
Once again the team at Gars delivered an evening of great food and exotic entertainment as they beat in the Chinese New Year with drums, cymbals and gongs. Whilst all this is going on the staff served a great selection of starters to the watching crowd. The dancers, all multi-disciplined came into the audience and showed the precision of their art with choreographed sequences of moves that included pulling punches so close to our faces that you could feel the air move. Both exciting and at times scary, it was certainly enough to whet our appetites for the buffet of classic Chineses dishes that was to follow.
The lion dance is an athletic affair that requires teams of dancers and they certainly earn their offerings of cash in stylish red and gold envelopes as they leap around, scaring the audience and reaching to eat the offering of a head of lettuce which hangs from the ceiling.
The Lion was swiftly followed by a demonstration of oriental martial arts.
