An Evening with Monty Don

With any talk, you only really need one ingredient: – PASSION. Even if you only know five words, if delivered passionately they are enrapturing. Luckily Monty Don knew a few more, and what a treat it was. The bulk of the talk was given over to his beautiful (and in places sublimely clever) garden, obviously a feature on Gardeners World but now seen through his eyes. From wasteland to full bloom, every seasonal change, every change in structure/form spoken with integrity, honesty, intelligence and utterly captivating. Enthusing to the audience that anyone could replicate his triumphs through diligence, determination and (back to that word again) PASSION. Three words that sum up Monty’s life and career really.
