Driver who died in Brighton ambulance crash is named

The man who died when his car crashed with an ambulance on the A259 coast road in Brighton last night (Thursday 28 February) has been named.

Gary Tucker, 45, of Longridge Avenue, Saltdean, died at the scene of the accident in Marine Drive.

Mr Tucker was driving a Fiat Seicento when the accident happened at about 10.40pm by the Roedean miniature golf course.

His 43-year-old passenger was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A member of the ambulance crew, which was on an emergency call, was slightly injured but was later discharged from hospital.

Sussex Police officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are asking anyone who saw what happened to call 101.
