Man dies in crash with ambulance in Brighton

A car driver died and his passenger was seriously injured when a car and ambulance crashed in Brighton last night (Thursday 28 February).

Sussex Police said: “At 10.40pm emergency services were called to Marine Drive, Brighton, outside Roedean golf club after an ambulance and a car had collided.

“The man driving the car died at the scene and a man who was a passenger in the car was seriously injured and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.

“A member of the ambulance crew, which was responding to an emergency call at the time, was slightly injured.

“There were no patients on board.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and our thoughts to all those involved.

“The ambulance crew involved suffered minor injuries and were later discharged from hospital.

“We will continue to work closely with Sussex Police as they investigate the causes of the road traffic collision.”

Any witnesses are urged to call Sussex Police on 101.
