Brighton Dome Organ Recital, Michael Woolridge
3.00pm Tuesday in the Dome on a sunny Spring afternoon? What was I thinking? Well, over 300 other folk thought the same and I’m so glad I did. The Dome organ is a marvellous beast and in the right hands it rocks! With literally all the bells and whistles you could ever want (even light shows in the swell boxes!) this concert scintillated with musical colours, contrasts and delights. It was music for many tastes, including a medley from ‘Les Misérables’, Mantovani strings, Liberace bling and Jeremiah Clarke’s ‘Trumpet Voluntary’. Woolridge signed off with Gershwin’s ‘I’ve got Rhythm’. So true!
