Brighton’s Sand Sculpture Festival 2013
Music to Brighton’s ears as the 2013 Sand Sculpture Festival theme centres around some of the most iconic artists and events in music history.
This year, the Brighton Sand Sculpture Festival will centre around the subject of “MUSIC”. More than 2000 tonnes of sand will be skillfully carved into sculptures of iconic artists and historical events depicting all your favourite genres. In fact, there will be something to tickle everyone’s fancy.
CBBC’s Deadly Art presenter and organizer of the festival, Nicola Wood said:
“Brighton is clearly a musical city. Some amazing artists derive from here and the music scene in general here in Brighton is buzzing. We want to celebrate this in the best way we know how; through art”
You’ll also get the chance to have a go yourself with workshops, live demonstrations, guided tours, school visits, a sand café and much more. Local musical talent will be invited to showcase their talents at what has to be the most unique music venue on the map.
“The talent here in Brighton is outstanding. It would be a travesty, given our theme this year, to not invite artists to play amidst sculptures of their idols” said co-organiser Alec Messchaert.
So if your musical interests lie somewhere between Mozart and Justin Bieber, or if you simply want to marvel at the world-class skill, this is the event for you this summer. They would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on what should be included in the exhibition via facebook and twitter feeds. Winning suggestions will receive a free family ticket.
The festival is open daily from 8th April and tickets start at £4. You can travel there for free on the Volks Railway. Check out the website for more information www.brightonsandsculpture.co.uk
