Jo Brand & Omid Djalili

This fundraiser for Burma Campaign UK was a labour of love, with second act of the night Djalili admitting that he was missing his 21st wedding anniversary to take part. Clearly both comics had their own histories with abuse, being it sexual abuse of racist chants, and although touched upon, putting the reason for this show into a very British relatable context, the majority of the evening was taken up with the best comedic efforts from both esteemed acts. Brand opened, taking broad shots across the boughs in the battle of the sexes, appearing laid-back, likeable and sharp. Then, after a break Djalili bounded on, trying out newer material with enthusiasm and sharing a few hushed Hollywood stories to top his comedy. A highly enjoyable night out.
