Brighton and Hove commuters stalled by rush-hour crash
A crash between Falmer and the Kingston roundabout at the edge of Lewes caused rush-hour traffic queuing back as far as the A23 at Patcham.
Crews from Brighton and Lewes were sent to deal with the accident on the A27 at about 8.15am this morning (Friday 8 March), East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said.
They used hydraulic cutting equipment to cut the roof and doors off one of the three vehicles involved and were able to free a woman driver from the wreckage.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service treated the woman at the scene before taking her to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Her injuries were not said to be serious.
Firefighters remained at the scene for just under an hour, helping the other emergency services and making the area safe.
