Marine Life: Brighton Marina’s Kirsty Pollard urges you to enjoy the great outdoors

If you’re looking for some safe, free and popular activities to explore outdoors then we’ve got something of interest. Last year the Marina participated in the Ping! initiative in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council. Four free ping pong tables were introduced in Marina Square. Ping! took the summer of 2012 by storm with ping pong tables being placed across the city.

Following the success of the tables located at Brighton Marina we have been fortunate to retain Ping! for 2013. Brighton Marina will continue to provide equipment for customers to play. Free bats and balls are located on the tables during opening hours. This outdoor pursuit, popular with all ages, proved such a success we are now extending our leisure attraction with the introduction of chess.

Just like Central Park in New York, Marina Square will become home to the latest addition of four concrete chess tables. Whether you play chess or draughts all you have to do is bring along your own equipment, alternatively you can hire it from Coco’s, in Marina Square, for a £10 refundable deposit.

The Marina’s free outdoor games are located in the stunning setting of Marina Square, overlooking the inner harbour. Relax and enjoy, take time out to play.

With free parking available to all Marina customers in the multi storey car park there is no need to rush.

With so many great facilities available in one great destination after play you can grab a bite to eat at one of the many bars, restaurants and cafés where you can contemplate your great victory – or loss!

Ping pong and chess tables are available in Marina Square from 10am–8pm, March to September, and 10am–6pm October to February. Chess equipment, is available to hire from Coco’s between 10am and 6pm Monday to Sunday.
