Spymonkey’s Cooped

A deliciously dark and gothic tale of a young girl joining the staff of an old and creepy house, bringing her own demons and foibles to add to the pot already overflowing with kookiness. Cooped proved to be the perfect showcase for the cast to show off their physical comedy and choreography. Peppered with laughs at a tight tempo, this was a revival of a show first conceived and performed 12 years ago, debuting at Komedia, but in no way tired. The only dark spot on this production were the dream sequences, which although perfectly delivered left something of a bad taste with the over-the-top caricatures proving too offensive to several in the audience.
